Ha-Yoon Jae, Au.D., M.Cl.Sc.
Doctor of Audiology
Audiologist-Delivered CBT Practitioner & Certified Mindfulness Facilitator for Tinnitus and Hyperacusis
Drawing on my diverse background as a Sergeant Medic in the army, I cultivated a deep appreciation for the vital role of Audiology Care and Rehabilitation. My journey in audiology began with impactful internships at prestigious institutions like the H.A. Leeper Speech and Hearing Clinic at Western University in Canada, where I engaged in varied clinical experiences that honed my skills. These encounters ignited my passion for assisting individuals struggling with tinnitus and hyperacusis.
I hold a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in the United States. Additionally, I earned my Master’s in Clinical Science in Audiology (M.Cl.Sc.) and Bachelor of Science in Honors Biology (HONS. B.Sc.) from Western University in Canada. I am a licensed audiologist with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and a member of the Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) and Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC).
My professional journey is marked by rigorous, specialized training, including the Master Therapy Class for Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Specialist Training by Dr. Hashir at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in the United Kingdom. I have completed Levels I and II of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) under Dr. Jastreboff’s guidance. My commitment to optimal auditory well-being is further evidenced by certifications in Mindfulness at both Level I and II, and successful completion of an intensive Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.
Outside of audiology, I have dedicated 27 years to practicing Kendo, a Japanese martial art renowned for its discipline, precision, and respect in swordsmanship. As a fifth-degree black belt (Go-Dan), I teach Kendo at Waterloo University in Canada, sharing my passion and expertise with great enthusiasm.
